I am a textile artist, born 1946 in Arvika, Sweden. I live and work in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I have used the sewing machine as an artistic tool sinse 1983. It's a regular sewing machine, a Pfaff from 1984. Many people ask me how I do. The sewing technique I use is called "lockstitch". The feeder of the sewing machine, wich usually moves the fabric forward, is detached, and I use a walking foot that is specialized for lockstitch. The fabric lies freely, the needle goes up and down, I move the fabric as I wish, and in this way I can "draw" with the sewing machine. I build the motif with fabric and then create the nyances by layers of thread. It's "Slow Art", I put a lot of time into every piece.
